Dr. James C. Crow, a Scottish immigrant started distilling in Frankfort, Kentucky, in the 1830s. Reportedly a very skilled distiller, he made Whiskey for various emplers, which was sold as "Crow" or, as it aged, "Old Crow" - and the brand acquired its reputation from the latter.

Old Crow is one of the most historic bourbons. It was served in the presidential homes of Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison and Ulysses S. Grant.
